  More Than Saviour

The Christian Church, since its infancy, has emphasized the need that all have for the salvation offered to the world through Jesus Christ. This emphasis is justified in that no one should be passed by in hearing the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and the salvation that can be received. By the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, the hearer can be led to make a faith based decision to accept the sacrifice of Jesus and ask Him to forgive them of their sins and become their Saviour. The making of disciples is something that Jesus commissioned followers to do in Matthew 28:19. The Church is following that commission in sharing the message of salvation. The new believer then usually makes a public confession of their acceptance of Jesus as Saviour. They then "join" the local congregation and are baptized in the manner used by that particular fellowship (or denomination). They are brought into "fellowship" with the local group and the denomination if the local church has such an affiliation. Often, however, the process of discipleship stops at this point. The individual has received Jesus as Saviour, been baptized, and filled out a card of membership yet this is not the end of the process but merely the beginning. That is why this page (and prayerfully a future book) is titled "More Than Saviour". It is the prayer and purpose of all of this that the following thoughts and verses will allow the reader to see that Jesus becoming Saviour is only the beginning. If we are to grow in our faith, we must strive to allow Jesus to grow in our lives beyond Saviour. He should become Lord of our lives and as we continue to grow...Master

Below is an illustration that hopefully will help you understand the process of growth. But bear this in mind as you are looking at the chart...it illustrates that Jesus becomes Saviour, then Lord, and then Master and is applied to our lives and growth in our faith after He becomes Saviour. Jesus is Saviour, Lord, and Master whether we ever see Him that way or not. Jesus needs no growth. He is full and complete. Our growth in the faith will help us know the full realization of Jesus in our lives. This chart is to help you see and understand the process of growth as a follower of Jesus Christ and the way Jesus affects our lives.

The coming pages and audio in this section of the site will have Scripture and lessons that will help you understand and grow in your faith as well as how Jesus can be much more in your life than Saviour alone.
